24/02/2016 Suspension of Election of District Councillor for Makindye III (KCCA)

Suspension of Polling Activities for the Election of District/City Directly Elected Councillor for Makindye III Electoral Area, Kampala Capital City

The Electoral Commission, in accordance with Section 50 of the Electoral Commission Act, CAP 140, informs candidates, their agents and voters in Makindye III Electoral Area, Kampala Capital City, that polling for the election of the District/City Directly Elected Councillor has been suspended.

The suspension has been made as a result of non-inclusion of one of the nominated candidates on the ballot paper.

24/02/2016 Suspension of Elections of District Chairperson for Kyankwanzi District

The Electoral Commission hereby informs candidates, their agents, voters and the general public in Kyankwanzi District

that the polling process for purposes of the District Chairperson scheduled for today, Wednesday, 24th February, 2016, has been suspended.

The suspension has been made as a result of misallocation of candidates’ symbols during the printing of ballot papers.

Please note that the suspension does not affect the elections for Directly-elected Councilor and Women Councilor to the District Local Government Council.

20/02/2016: Declaration of Presidential Elections Results

The Electoral Commission appointed 18th February 2016 as the polling date for Presidential (and Parliamentary) Elections. The process of tallying the results of the election has been concluded and the results declared, in accordance with Article 103(7) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda (as amended) and Section 57 of the Presidential Elections Act (as amended).

18/02/2016: The Polling Process for Presidential and Parliamentary Elections

As you are aware, today, 18th February 2016, has been a polling day for Presidential and Parliamentary Elections. Polling started on time, in various parts of the country, and polling stations have reported a smooth start.

There was a delay in delivery of polling materials in some parts of Wakiso District and Kampala Capital City. The Electoral Commission regretted the delay and extended an apology to the voters in the affected stations.

However, polling materials were later delivered to all these places and polling commenced in most of the places.

18/02/2016: Delay of Opening Polls in Kampala and Wakiso Districts

Today, 18th February 2016, is polling day for Presidential and Parliamentary Elections. Polling has started on time, in various parts of the country, and polling stations have reported a smooth start.

However, there has been a delay in delivery of polling materials in some parts of Wakiso District and Kampala Capital City. The Electoral Commission regrets the delay.

The polling materials have now been delivered to all these places and polling has commenced in most of the places.
