Misrepresentation of the Electoral Commission as a Partisan Body

The Electoral Commission has noted with concern, the images which are circulating through various media especially social media platforms, where a truck bearing voter education messages and what appears to be ‘Electoral Commission’ logo, decorated with posters of one of the Presidential candidates, and carrying likely supporters of that candidate. 
    
The images have caused concern among stakeholders in the electoral process, over the impartiality of the election management body in the conduct of the elections. 

Presidential Nomination Exercise - 2016

The Electoral Commission appointed 3rd and 4th November 2015 as dates for the nomination of candidates for the 2016 Presidential Elections. There were forty eight (48) persons who picked Nomination Forms for Presidential Elections. Twelve (12) persons/parties returned the Forms to the Commission for verification. The nomination exercise which commenced yesterday Tuesday 3rd November 2015, has been concluded today, Wednesday, 4th November 2015, and the following have been successfully nominated as candidates

Accreditation of National and International Media for 2016 General Elections

For purposes of transparency, the Electoral Commission shall accredit international and national media organisations to observe/report the various activities that will be undertaken during the 2016 General Elections.

The Commission, therefore, invites applications from media organisations and freelance journalists who wish to observe/report on the electoral process.

Applying media organisations shall be required to prove that their registration status with the respective regulatory authorities is up to-date.
