CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE
The Electoral
Commission is a statutory body established under Article 60 of the Constitution
of the Republic of Uganda, with the mandate of conducting regular, free
and fair elections and referenda.
In line with our vision of becoming ‘a model institution and centre of excellence in election management”, the EC has embarked on implementing a comprehensive plan aimed at continuously improving the management of electoral processes.
We at Electoral Commission strongly believe in harnessing the potential of modern technology, like the internet, to provide vital information and data (in user friendly format) on developments in election management in Uganda over the past two decades. The site will also highlight key achievements in the development of electoral democracy in Uganda, as well as the challenges encountered in the process.
The site further provides useful information, aimed at educating the general public, and voters in particular, on the various aspects of the electoral process, through an integrated management of information system for efficiency and effectiveness.
At the same time, we believe this (site) will enable us (as election managers) to receive and respond to issues that you, our esteemed public, will raise from time to time.
As the EC aims at better delivery of electoral services in Uganda, we realise the importance of public support and involvement. I therefore, invite you as stakeholders, to join and support our efforts of taking election to an even much higher level.
