St. Kizito Day & Boarding Primary School Sets the Stage for Inclusive Election

In the vibrant heart of Kawempe Division's bustling suburbs lies St. Kizito Day and Boarding Primary School, a beacon  of education  with roots dating back to its Catholic Church founding in 1985. Today, with excitement palpable in the air, the school eagerly conducts its annual prefect elections, a much-anticipated event for its 350 enthusiastic pupils.

Under the guidance of Mr. Kisekka Kato Experito, the school's esteemed headteacher, this year's elections carry special significance. With unwavering support from the Electoral Commission of Uganda, led by Ms. Rehemah Nassuna, the ADEA/Returning Officer for Kawempe Division, the school is on a mission to instill democratic values in its young learners. The swift assistance provided by the Kawempe EC Office is warmly acknowledged.

Thanks to the Electoral Commission's intervention, the electoral process has been revamped with essential resources such as transparent ballot boxes, polling assistants' aprons, and ink seals, ensuring the integrity of the vote. Teachers, donning distinctive reflective jackets, play a vital role in orchestrating the proceedings.

Central to this electoral endeavor is the school's unwavering commitment to inclusivity. Recognizing the diverse tapestry of its student body, St. Kizito Day School goes the extra mile to accommodate pupils with disabilities. Whether visually impaired or living with autism, every pupil is empowered to participate fully in the electoral process, reflecting the school's ethos of equal opportunity.

Mr. Kisekka Kato Experito underscores the importance of inclusivity, emphasizing that the electoral process mirrors the democratic principles upheld in national elections. By embracing diversity and fostering a culture of inclusion, St. Kizito Day School not only molds future leaders but also nurtures a generation of compassionate and socially conscious individuals.

As anticipation builds and ballots are cast, the spirit of democracy permeates the school grounds. With pupils doubling as election observers, ensuring fairness and transparency, the democratic experience is enriched even further.

In this microcosm of society, guided by the Electoral Commission's principles and fueled by the enthusiasm of both pupils and teachers, St. Kizito School stands as a shining example of democratic ideals. Today, as students exercise their right to vote, they not only select their leaders but also embody the values of democracy, unity, and respect for all.
