The Electoral Commission has appointed Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th January, 2016 as dates for nomination of candidates for Parliamentary and Local Government Councils in the following electoral areas where death occurred of nominated candidates:
1. District Woman Representative to Parliament, Bukomansimbi District;
2. Sub County Chairperson, Muko Sub County, Kabale District;
3. Sub County Councillor, Mugulu Parish, Namungo Sub County, Mityana District;
4. Councillor Representing Older Persons, Butandiga Sub County, Sironko District; and,
5. Woman Councillor, Namayiba & Kyabango Parishes, Nakisunga Sub County, Mukono District
a. A candidate who is already nominated to contest for the above elective positions, will not be required to go through fresh nomination;
b. During the nomination exercise, a political party/organization which had sponsored the deceased candidate will be able to sponsor another candidate for nomination;
c. Any other person who is interested, and qualifies to contest for any of the above elective positions, with the sponsorship of a political party/organization or on independent ticket, will also be able to present herself or himself for nomination during the above exercise;
d. Nomination forms and related guidelines on the nominations can be obtained from the office of the respective District Returning Officer.
