The Electoral Commission informs political parties, candidates, their agents and supporters, and the general public that, following its decision of 22nd January 2026 to postpone the elections for District Chairperson, Directly Elected District Councillors, and District Women Councillors in Butebo District, a new polling date has been confirmed.
In accordance with the approved Electoral Commission Roadmap, which designated Wednesday, 4th February 2026 as the polling date for Local Government Councils Elections at Sub County, Town Council and Municipal Division levels nationwide, the Commission has now appointed the same date for the District-level and Sub County/Town Council-level elections in Butebo District.
Accordingly, on Wednesday 4th February 2026, voters in Butebo District will cast vote for the following elective positions.
- District Chairperson;
- Directly Elected District Councillors;
- District Women Councillors;
- Sub County Chairpersons;
- Sub County Directly-elected Councillors; and,
- Sub County/Town Council Women Councillors.
Voting shall be by universal adult suffrage, and shall take place at all polling stations in all the Sub Counties and Town Council in Butebo, beginning at 7:00am till 4:00pm.
Thereafter, counting of votes and declaration of results shall take place.
The Electoral Commission calls upon all stakeholders and voters in Butebo District to participate peacefully and to observe the electoral laws and guidelines.
