The Electoral Commission informs political parties, candidates, voters, and the general public that Wednesday, 4th February 2026, has been appointed as the polling day for Local Government Council Elections in the various electoral areas across the country where polling was not conducted, or not concluded on the previously appointed polling dates due to unforeseen circumstances.
Elections shall be conducted for the following positions at the City/District; Municipality/City Division; and Sub County/Town/Municipal Division level, as applicable:
- Chairpersons;
- Directly Elected Councillors;
- Women Councillors; and,
- Councillors representing Special Interest Groups (Youths; Older Persons; Workers and Persons with Disabilities - PWDs).
Polling shall take place at all polling stations within the affected electoral areas and, where applicable, at the venues for the respective electoral colleges, starting at 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The counting of votes and declaration of results shall commence immediately after the close of polling, in accordance with the law.
Political parties and independent candidates are advised that they may deploy a maximum of two (2) polling agents per polling station in the affected electoral areas.
The Electoral Commission urges all stakeholders and voters to participate peacefully and to comply with the electoral laws, regulations, and guidelines.
