The Electoral Commission hereby notifies the general public that the polling date for the Sub County, Town Council, and Municipal Division Local Government Council Elections in electoral areas where voting was not conducted or concluded on 4th February 2026 has been rescheduled.
The repeat elections which had been scheduled for Thursday 26th February 2026 will now be held on Thursday 12th March 2026.
The rescheduling has been made to provide more time for the various administrative and logistical preparations, and to cater for all affected electoral areas including those where fresh nominations have been conducted due to death of some candidates.
This new polling date is appointed in accordance with the Commission’s mandate to ensure the completion of the electoral processes in all affected areas. Accordingly, the repeat elections shall be conducted on Thursday 12th March 2026 for the following unfilled positions at the affected Sub County/Town/Municipal Division level:
1. Chairpersons;
2. Directly Elected Councillors;
3. Women Councillors; and,
4. Councillors representing Special Interest Groups (Youths; Older Persons; and Persons with Disabilities - PWDs).
Polling shall take place at all designated polling stations within the affected electoral areas nationwide and, where applicable, at the respective electoral college venues. Voting shall commence at 7:00 a.m. and close at 4:00 p.m.
Immediately after the close of polling, the counting of votes shall be conducted at the respective polling stations, followed by the declaration of results in accordance with the applicable electoral laws.
The Electoral Commission urges all stakeholders and voters to participate peacefully and to comply with the electoral laws and guidelines.
