Statement by the Chairperson, Electoral Commission on Adjustment of the Period for Nomination of Candidates for the General Parliamentary and Local Government Councils Elections, and Related Issues Under the Roadmap for the 2025/2026 General Elections

The Electoral Commission has adjusted the dates for nomination of candidates for Local Government Councils Elections including Special Interest Groups (Youths, Persons with Disabilities and Older Persons) elections, which was initially scheduled to commence on 3rd September 2025 and end on 12th September, 2025 for all levels of Local Government.

The nomination exercise has been disaggregated by level of Local Government Council Elections, rescheduled and will now be conducted as follows:

Postponement of the convening of Sub-county and other conferences for the elections of non-unionised workers.

The Electoral Commission wishes to inform all non- unionized workers across the country, and the general public, that elections of delegates of Non-Unionised workers at the Sub-County/Division and Town Council level which were earlier scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 5th August 2025, have been rescheduled and will now be held on Monday, 18th August 2025.
