The Electoral Commission has released the programme for conducting the by-election of Chairperson, Hoima District.
During the electoral programme, the Commission will also fill the position of Sub County Councillor for Katereiga Parish, Buhanika Sub County and the Sub County Male Councillor representing Older Persons for Kabaale Sub County, Hoima District.
Condemnation of Election-related Violence During the Nomination of Candidates for Local Government Councils By-elections in Bukedea District
The Electoral Commission has noted a report of alleged assault against one of the aspirants for the by-election of District Chairperson, Bukedea.
The assault allegedly took place on Tuesday 6th June 2023, as the said aspirant approached the Office of the Returning Officer, Bukedea, to present himself for nomination as a candidate for the by-election of District Chairperson, Bukedea.
The Electoral Commission has declared twelve (12) candidates duly nominated to contest in Local Government Council by–elections in Bukedea District.
The nomination exercise commenced on Monday 5th June and closed on Tuesday 6th at the Office of the District Election Administrator, Bukedea, and was presided over by the District Returning Officer, Hajj Suleiman Kato.
The Electoral Commission has released the programme for conducting the by-election of Member of Parliament for Oyam County North, Oyam District.
The by–election programme will commence with an update of the National Voters’ Register from Thursday 18th to Monday 22nd May 2023 at update stations in each of the thirty-nine (39) parishes and wards in Oyam County North Constituency.

The Electoral Commission has noted a fictitious vacancy announcement circulating on various social media platforms calling for applications to fill positions within its structure on temporary basis (ad-hoc staff).
The Commission would like to inform and warn the general public that this is a fake job announcement designed and placed by fraudulent persons with the intention of misleading and extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public.
The Electoral Commission has released the programme for conducting the by-election of Member of Parliament for Busongora County South Constituency in Kasese District.
The by–election programme will commence with an update of the National Voters’ Register from Friday 1st July to Tuesday 5th July 2022 at update stations in each of the forty-nine (49) parishes in Busongora County South.
The Electoral Commission has released the programme for conducting the by-election of Member of Parliament for Gogonyo County Constituency in Pallisa District.
The by–election programme will commence with an update of the National Voters’ Register from Friday 24th June to Tuesday 28th June 2022 at update stations in each of the twenty-one (21) parishes in Gogonyo County.
On 18th February 2022, the Electoral Commission issued a Roadmap detailing the various activities to be conducted under the programme for elections of Women Councils and Committees from the Village to the National Level.
To-date the Electoral Commission has finalised the compilation of the Village Women Residents’ Register and is currently conducting the Display of the said Registers at each Village/Cell across the country in preparation for subsequent activities, namely, nomination of candidates and polling at the Village level.
