EC sets dates for Parliamentary and Local Government Councils By-elections in Kisoro District

The Electoral Commission has released the programme for the by-elections of the District Woman Representative to Parliament for Kisoro District and Councillors on various Local Government Councils in the district where vacancies exist.

The by–election programme will commence with an update of the National Voters’ Register from Friday 27th September to Tuesday 1st October 2024 at update stations in each of the seventy-one (71) parishes/wards in Kisoro District.

Press Release - Countrywide Re-organisation of Polling Stations in Preparation for the 2025/2026 General Elections

The Electoral Commission, under Section 12(1) (d) of the Electoral Commission Act, 1997 (Cap 140) is mandated to establish and operate polling stations for elections.

In preparation for the 2025/2026 General Elections, the Commission will re-organise polling stations countrywide to enable voters to conveniently cast their votes, by ensuring adequate space at polling stations as well as a manageable number of voters per polling station.

The re-organization exercise will be conducted from 6th August 2024 to 16th August 2024.

EC Clarifies on Programme for LC 1 and Women Committees Elections

The Electoral Commission has noted that some individuals and media houses are circulating a programme claiming that it is the approved electoral programme for the Administrative Units (LC 1 & 2) and Women Councils and Committees Elections, 2023.

This is to clarify that the Electoral Commission has not issued the said electoral programme.

The Commission has since established that the said electoral programme is indeed an internal working document (prototype) that was shared before approval.
